ABDO to introduce scholarly content for mid- and high-level grades with new Duchess Harris book line

May 1, 2017

Minneapolis, MN – ABDO (abdopublishing.com), a leading educational publisher, will introduce a new line of titles written by Duchess Harris, JD, PhD, into the market by Spring Season 2018. This line will provide scholarly expertise with a collegiate perspective for mid- and high-level grades.

“We wanted to expand on the level of content in our books and really add value to our offerings,” says Editor-in-Chief Paul Abdo. “Duchess has worked on several other books for ABDO and we felt like she was the perfect fit for this project.”

The first appearance of this line will be in January of 2018. It will feature two series in each the Core Library imprint (Grades 3-6) and the Essential Library imprint (Grades 6-12) of the Abdo Publishing division. Each of the four series will showcase six books.

Previously, her work had only been a part of Essential Library, but now ABDO is working with her on books for younger students as part of Core Library. “We’ve been asked by librarians and teachers to provide her message to middle grade students,” says National Sales Director Monte Kuehl, “and we agree that her expertise is of as much value to younger students as it is to older students.”

Harris, Professor and Chair of American Studies at Macalester College in St. Paul Minnesota, is the coauthor of Black Lives Matter and Hidden Human Computers: The Black Women of NASA, both written with Sue Bradford Edwards. She is also the author of Race and Policing, part of the forthcoming series Race in America from ABDO this fall.
