ABDO Provides Access for All During COVID-19 Crisis

March 27, 2020

EDINA, Minn – (abdobooks.com), a leading educational publisher based in Minneapolis, is proud to offer free access to its digital products through June 2020 to help educators keep students reading during COVID-19 school closures.

Schools and libraries are closing across the country to help stop the spread of COVID-19. ABDO wants to ensure that readers everywhere continue to have the opportunity to learn and grow during this unprecedented global event and is providing instant access to distance learning to make that happen.

On Wednesday, March 18, 2020, ABDO made available three different online digital accounts for schools, libraries, and educators to use during this time. Two of these accounts separate ABDO’s expansive eBook collection into two groups: one for PreK–6 grade readers, and one for 5–12 grade readers. Both these bookshelves contain age appropriate nonfiction and fiction eBooks for continued reading. The third account provides access to all four Abdo Zoom online databases, perfect for primary PreK–2 grade research. These databases include Biographies, STEAM, Animals, and Animales (Animals in Spanish).

Initial users of these accounts have great things to say:

Twitter user THES Library @theslibrary says, “#HolyGrail of #DistanceLearning is here: Free and instant access to ABDO Zoom! https://bit.ly/2QzKmwv Thank you @ABDOpublishing for giving our students this opportunity during their time of need!”

Twitter user Jennifer Powell @Ace_Librarian7 says, “Thanks @ABDOpublishing for opening up your ebook libraries to students. During this time of uncertainty, having access to books is calming and familiar. #ALLibraries

Twitter user Kerrie Lattari @TheLibrarican says, “@ABDOpublishing Thank you for providing this service to our students! We love your books and this will be so helpful for research projects while our physical libraries are not accessible to students!”

On Facebook, Dundee Library says, “Yet another way to enjoy free ebooks! This company has some really great nonfiction titles with follow-up activities to keep every engaged! Thank you ABDO!”

Facebook user Erika Sanborne says, “This is a 💯 high-value chance for everyone (but especially teachers and parents-playing-teachings) to access a ton of valuable books for free through June 2020. You will probably be stunned with how awesome this is once you get browsing all they have to offer! Save/share/bookmark this.”

“This donation reflects the heart of this company. We truly care about readers and educators, and to be able to provide immediate help is not only our honor, but our responsibility,” says Paul Abdo, Editor-in-Chief. Abdo Digital products are available for free, now through June 2020.
