United States Enters World War I (Essential Events) – VOYA

. . .discusses major incidents that led to the outbreak of war in Europe and the neutrality of the United States, until the culminating threat of Mexico, and the country being compelled to join the Allied Forces, even against protest at home. It discusses the preparation it took for America and describes in brief detail many of the major battles in World War I both before and after the United States joined. It discusses how industrialization and technology made WWI a catastrophic war in its use of modern weaponry like chemical weapons, machine guns, tanks, and earth-shattering artillery guns, like Big Bertha. It also contains sections on the efforts of women, and their changing roles and contribution to the American war effort.

Trail of Tears briefly discusses Cherokee society and culture in a simplistic fashion and then covers the conflict regarding Native lands, Cherokee efforts to work for their rights within the American judicial system, the discovery of gold in Georgia that brought thousands of white miners to Cherokee land, the forced removal of the tribe during the 1830s, and the Cherokee today, in both Oklahoma and the Southeast.
