Bug's World – Library Media Connection

Cover: Bug's World

Each type of creature is introduced with its most significant attribute, such as fireflies making their own light or ants being social. Each volume includes habitat, number of species, life cycle, feeding and staying safe, body parts with a labeled picture, and an activity. The vibrant illustrations show the habitat, each stage in development, and include various species. Important concepts are illustrated as well as explained in the text, such as molting, larval and pupa stages, and spiracles. These slim volumes actually contain much of the information required for our seventh grade project, and they highlight exactly what makes each insect type special. The third grade reading level ensures that few can say it is too hard.
