Women in Conservation (Women in STEM) – Booklist

Cover: Women in STEM

This volume in the Women in STEM series spotlights pioneers and modern women in the field of conservation. The book begins with two oft written about conservationists, Jane Goodall and Rachel Carson, and follows with chapters on American conservationists; oceanographers; women working in the tropics; and the future for women in conservation. On the plus side, a wide array of women working in many habitats gives readers an interesting look at both the individuals and wide-ranging problems they face. . . . Passages headlined “Changing Minds” ask readers to take a position on issues, while other sidebars invite them to take a critical look. A final section suggests that kids “stop and think” about the issues discussed and offers ways to get involved.
